Say Thanks to Troops
Colorado Springs, Colo. – May 28, 2009 – It can be difficult delivering a thank you to the thousands of military troops that can actually be heard. Community Partnership for Child Development will make it easier for those in Colorado Springs by hosting the Talking with Heroes radio program on Friday, May 29 (7:00-9:00 p.m.). Colorado Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera and Major General Mark Graham will be among those saying thanks on the show.
The intention of the program is to give people in the community the opportunity to reach out to troops who recently returned from 15-month deployments to Iraq. The show will air live on Stardustradio.com and a copy will made available for military personnel afterwards.
“Due to the services and support we provide to many military families,” said CPCD Military Liaison Charlotte Nal. “We are always looking for ways to enhance the collaboration between our military partners and the community.”
CPCD organizes the Head Start preschool program for children in military families at Fort Carson, as well as at select schools in Colorado Springs.
The live event will be hosted by Bob Calvert and will also feature stories from soldiers who served in Iraq during the past year. Approximately 300 people are expected to attend the broadcast.
More information about the event can be found on the Talking with Heroes Web site at:http://www.talkingwithheroes.com/.
