Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers have a significant positive impact on the children and families CPCD serves. Listed below are a few of the most popular volunteer jobs; however, we are always open to ideas that will best utilize volunteers unique talents, skills and knowledge.

Classroom Volunteers: The Classrooms are ready, the teachers are waiting, the children are excited to learn, all that’s missing is YOU! Volunteers help teachers with classroom activities, read books, play games, help with outdoor play, rock babies, and spend precious one-on-one time with children ages birth to five. There are a variety of locations and age groups, schedules are flexible, there is no minimum commitment of hours, and training is provided. Even a few hours a week will help a child learn, grow, become prepared for school, and ensure a brighter future for everyone! All classroom volunteers must be 12 years of age of older unless volunteering as a family.

Child Care Helpers: If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference to a child in our community, now’s your chance! Volunteers are needed to assist in CPCD’s child care rooms during evening parent programs. Volunteers work with our child care staff to rock infants, read to preschool-aged children, or play games with school-aged children while their parents attend evening programs. This opportunity is perfect for youth volunteers, adults who work during the day, groups, and families who would like to volunteer together. Schedules are very flexible with no long-term commitment required. All Child Care Helpers must be 12 years of age or older unless volunteering as a family.

Spanish Speakers: Are you are looking for an opportunity to use your language skills? Bilingual Spanish/English volunteers are needed to work with Spanish speaking children and families. Volunteers help the children adjust to the classroom, help translate for children and parents, and assist teachers in communicating with parents.

Administrative Offices: Assist staff with various administrative tasks, update CPCD’s Community Resource Directory, prepare classroom form boxes, enrollment packets and much more. All administrative volunteers must be 12 years of age.

Special Events and Group Projects: Gather the troops and make a difference! There are a variety of projects throughout the year designed for groups. Groups can schedule a day to visit a center and interact with the children, sign up to help spruce up and clean up neighborhood locations, organize classroom supply drive, “adopt” a family for the holidays and more.

For more information or to start the volunteer process, contact CPCD’s Coordinator of Volunteers at 635-1536, etc. 276 or at duvalle@cpcd.org.

Looking To The Future

Looking To The Future

Just 18-months-old, Malena can already count to five, and her speech and motor skills continue to develop rapidly. Her mother, Crystal, is very proud and credits both herself and Early Head Start (EHS) for her daughter’s progress.  “Early Head Start is helping Malena learn because the daily activities are age appropriate and the staff really pay attention to her individual needs,” Crystal says.
