What is the difference between Head Start and the Colorado Preschool Program (CPP)?

Head Start is a program for children 3-5 years old who meet the eligibility guidelines (see FAQ "Does my child qualify for Head Start"), most of which are based on income. The Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) is a state-funded program that also serves 3- to 5-year-old children, but enrollment in the program is not limited to those who meet the income eligibility guidelines for Head Start. CPP is only offered in four school districts (Harrison School District 2, Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, Colorado Springs School District 11 and Falcon School District 49). Both programs offer comprehensive services for children and families (health, family support, parent education), but only Head Start families are eligible to receive transportation to and from school for their child.
