Coats, Cookies & Books, Oh My!

On Saturday, Dec. 17, CPCD families lined up outside of 2330 Robinson St., for a coats and books giveaway. The event was inspired by CPCD friend and supporter Gayle Bashear, who asked guests of his annual holiday party in early December to bring new coats for CPCD families. Mr. Bashear's guests answered the call, amassing nearly 500 brand new coats.

CPCD's coats and books giveaway event featured crafts, cookies and milk, and storytime, in addition to one free coat and book for each child currently enrolled in a CPCD program and their siblings. The event ran from 10 a.m. to noon but had families waiting outside CPCD at 9 a.m. Volunteers and staff were on hand to help the nearly 200 families in attendance, and almost all coats were given away!
