Update: New Poverty Guidelines Released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The following figures are the 2012 Department of Health and Human Services poverty guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia:

 
For families with more than eight persons, add $3,960 for each additional person.
