Comcast To Help Renovate CPCD Classrooms
Colorado Springs, Colo. – April 24, 2009 – Next week will begin a little differently than usual for some Colorado Springs preschool students. Children enrolled in CommunityPartnership for Child Development’s (CPCD) Head Start program at Pikes Peak Modular will return from the weekend to renovated classrooms and a beautified campus. The renovations will be a result of Comcast Cares Day, where Comcast employees and their families will perform service work at the school on Saturday, April 25 at 9:00 a.m.
The work will benefit CPCD’s Head Start program, which helps children who are living in poverty or have special needs by providing them with free early childhood education. The classroom renovations are one of many projects in Colorado that Comcast is coordinating.
“We feel very fortunate that Comcast chose CPCD as one of the non-profits they would like to help,” said Coordinator of Volunteers Delberta Uvalle. “Children will be feeling the impact for many years.”
Both interior and exterior work will be completed at Pikes Peak Modular. Interior projects include installing mini blinds and cork boards, deep cleaning the campus kitchen and painting classrooms and hallways. Assembling a new picnic table, planting flowers and finishing a deck will be part of the outdoor efforts.
The local service projects by Comcast represent only a fraction of the work being completed by the company on April 25. Tens of thousands of employee volunteers make a positive impact each year in neighborhoods across the United States on Comcast Cares Day. Colorado will feel the impact of approximately 3,000 of these volunteers.
Pikes Peak Modular is located at: 1520A Verde Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80910
