Colorado Springs, Colo. – May 19, 2009 – Colorado’s economic future might just be a little more stable thanks to preschoolers in Colorado Springs. Ent Federal Credit Union’s Lois Carlock will teach parents who have children enrolled in Community Partnership for Child Development’s (CPCD) Head Start program how to make their kids smarter consumers. The class is Thursday, May 21, 9-10 a.m., at Wilson Elementary School.

The two-hour course is part of the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) program Thrive by Five. The organization believes children develop spending habits similar to their parents and it provides basic activities they can use to demonstrate smart spending to their kids.

“Smart money management helps kids learn to be responsible,” said Carlock. “Ent believes kids are never too young to understand basic money lessons.”

The class is part of CPCD’s Family Literacy program that helps parents pursue their educational goals while supporting their children’s learning. There is no cost to parents who attend the class.

This is not the first time Ent has helped CPCD. Most recently the company awarded CPCD a $5,000 Youth Endowment Series (YES) grant to support comprehensive services for more than 600 disadvantaged children and their families in the Colorado Preschool Program.

More information on the courses can be found on the Credit Union National Association’s web site.
