CPCD Refusing to let Shaky Economy

Hurt Breakfast Event

Problem: The unfavorable economic climate over the past year has had a negative impact on many nonprofit organizations. According to a study conducted by The Center on Philanthropy at the University of Indiana, 94 percent of nonprofit fundraisers believed the economy was having a “negative” or “very negative” effect on fundraising.

Solution: Community Partnership for Child Development has diversified its donor base in order to avoid the negative effects of the economic downturn. These attempts will be evident at its annual Now is the Time Breakfast Event, Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fundraising leading up to the breakfast has focused on using creative tactics and face-to-face interaction to reach new donors. CPCD has been visiting various businesses in Colorado and presenting them with lunch boxes containing various items and toys that help tell CPCD’s story.   The campaign has generated close to $15,000 since its launch last month.

After successfully expanding its donor base by reaching out to businesses in many different industries, CPCD will take a similar approach at the breakfast event. A full-sized bus will be rolled into the building, attendees will be served juice boxes and custom ViewMasters showcasing CPCD’s work in the community will be shared with guests. CPCD hopes this year’s fundraising efforts will create a sense of nostalgia that will help attract more first-time donors.

All donations received at the breakfast will help the more than 1,700 children and families that CPCD provides early childhood development and family programs to.

When:           Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009                         7:30 – 8:30 a.m.
