More Of Our Team
Janice Kidd, Director of Child Development
Janice came to CPCD 15 years ago as a physical therapist, working with our children who have special needs. Over that time, she served as the Special Needs Coordinator and then became the Child Development Director in 2008, overseeing 240 staff members who provide CPCD’s early learning services.
Janice earned her Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2008, and holds a Colorado Department of Education Teaching Licensure with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education. In 2008, Janice was chosen by the Colorado Head Start Association, the Head Start Region 8 Board and the National Head Start Association as the Head Start Disabilities Coordinator of the Year!
In her non work hours, Janice enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to see her children, reading and doing home improvement projects. jkidd@cpcd.org.
Donna Garcia, Director of Family Services
Donna is a true Head Start success story as she first came to know CPCD as a Head Start parent in 1995 when she enrolled her son, Antonio. Since that time, Donna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Sociology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, joined CPCD as a Family Advocate in 1996, earned her Master of Arts in Community and School Counseling from UCCS in 2000, and was promoted to the Family Services Director in 2006. In the meantime, Antonio has grown up, graduated from high school and is now enrolled at UCCS, too!
Donna oversees the family services, enrollment and transportation departments at CPCD, ensuring that our families receive the support that they need to raise successful children. She is a 2008 graduate of the Head Start Management Fellows Program through UCLA. Donna is bilingual in Spanish and English and when she isn’t at work, she works out and spends time with family. dgarcia@cpcd.org.
Terri Hulsey, Director of Health and Nutrition Services
Terri is passionate about ensuring that children have a healthy start in life. A Registered Nurse for 35 years, Terri received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Purdue University and later completed a BSN from Bethel College of Nursing. Terri was the office nurse for a local pediatrician for almost 15 years before coming to CPCD as a staff preschool nurse, and then became the Director of the department in 2003. Terri overseas all aspects of the health and nutrition components of our services, including an award-winning oral health program that is replicated in other Head Start programs throughout the country.
Terri is a “craftsy” person, enjoying cooking and quilting which contribute to a very welcoming atmosphere in the Health office! But her favorite activities are spending time with her family camping in the great outdoors. thulsey@cpcd.org
Tanya Morton, IT Director
Tanya came to CPCD in 2000 as one of two staff members in CPCD’s IT Department. Under Tanya’s leadership, the department has grown to four and has become an integral part of CPCD’s ability to improve efficiencies and effectiveness while fulfilling our mission. Tanya holds a BS in Computer Science from Wheaton College in Illinois, and in 2001 earned an MA in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. As one would expect, Tanya and her family are very involved in their church and Tanya has championed CPCD’s partnerships with faith-based organizations to enhance our services. tmorton@cpcd.org
Charlotte Nal, Strategic Initiative Liaison
Char came to CPCD as a Family Advocate in 2001, after having earned a B.S. in Sociology from Cameron University in Oklahoma. After completing a masters degree in Non-Profit Management from Regis University in 2005, Char was promoted to Assistant Family Services Manager where one of her “other duties as assigned” was to serve as our Military Liaison, developing relationships and programs that supported CPCD in meeting the unique needs of military families. As we identified additional underserved populations (homeless families and recent immigrants), Char’s expert networking skills were put to use as CPCD’s Strategic Initiatives Liaison, ensuring that we are in touch with others in the community who are working with these populations and promoting coordination of resources.
Char is often called upon to provide community trainings in cultural competency and the military “culture”, a subject in which she is well-versed as the spouse of an Army First Sergeant. Char is an excellent dancer (she was born in Belize and is well acquainted with some of the native dances) and is bi-lingual in Spanish and English. cnal@cpcd.org.
