Our Programs
Head Start is our largest and best known program providing educational, physical and mental health, and nutritional services to children 3 to 5 years of age. Families receive education and support to assist them in fulfilling their role as their child's first and best teacher. We are currently serving 1,034 children and their families in the Head Start Program.
Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children birth to age three, to enhance the development of very young children while promoting healthy family functioning and school readiness. We are currently serving 203 children and their families in the Early Head Start Program.
Colorado Preschool Program is offered to children 3 to 5 years of age. Children and families receive many of the same services offered for Head Start families, such as health screenings and family support. We are currently serving 554 children and their families in the Colorado Preschool Program.
We also have several innovative special initiatives that have been developed with community partners to meet the unique needs of El Paso County's underserved populations. These include:
The first-ever therapeutic preschool in the county to serve 3-5 year olds who are struggling with significant behavioral challenges.
Family literacy programs in partnership with school districts to serve adults and children who are learning English.
Early childhood services to support families who are homeless.
Specific program models to serve military families.
