Head Start is our largest and best known program. Through this program, CPCD provides educational, physical and behavioral health, and nutritional services for children 3 to 5 years of age. Families receive education and support to assist them in fulfilling their role as their child's first and best teacher. We are currently serving 962 children and their families in the Head Start Program.

Colorado Preschool Program (CPP)

 

 

Early Head Start

The Colorado Preschool Program is offered to children 3 to 5 years of age. Children and families receive many of the same services offered for Head Start families, such as health screenings and family support, and must meet specific eligibility requirements. We are currently serving 636 children and their families in the Colorado Preschool Program.

Families in Colorado can receive at least 15 hours per week of free, voluntary preschool for 4-year-olds through the Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado program. 3-year-olds with qualifying factors are eligible for 10 free hours per week.  Some families can add this on to Head Start for full day school and child care.  At CPCD, children and families in UPK receive many of the same services offered for Head Start families such as health screenings and family support.  We can currently serve over 600 children and their families in UPK.

Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children ages birth to 3. This program serves to enhance the development of very young children while promoting healthy family functioning and school readiness. We are currently serving 203 children in the Early Head Start Program.

CPCD partners with 6 local school districts to provide the Universal Preschool in   Districts 2, 3, 8, 11, 20 and 49 donate valuable classroom space knowing that the children who enter kindergarten from CPCD will have the skills and knowledge to be successful.
